At the time, given the complexities involved, we couldn’t find anyone able to build a climate chamber to our specifications, so we built it ourselves and went further than just the temperature-controlled environment.
- We added special sound rooms, an echo chamber and a hemi anechoic sound testing chamber to enable us to develop the quietest heat pumps on the market
- We created facilities for the most rigorous mechanical stress testing possible, to provide the complete picture of component quality and help ensure the long-term durability of every Thermia product
- We developed proprietary software in-house to control our heat pumps and systems. This removed any reliance on outside parties to provide an off-the-shelf solution and means that our software is uniquely designed and integral to the whole development process. This is a considerable advantage.
Located in Arvika, the stand-alone building of around 3,000 square meters was completed and opened in the same year – 2007.
Around 30 engineers work there full-time and collaborate with our team of designers to ensure that our products achieve the best possible balance between form and function – something we believe is a hallmark of great Scandinavian design.
This global R&D center continues to play a vital role in helping us create high-tech products and systems that are superbly energy-efficient.
