Martin and Marie wanted a completely invisible heating system, with the heating hidden beneath the wide pine paneling. The solution was a geothermal system with underfloor heating. The installer recommended the Thermia Calibra Eco 8 ground source heat pump with modulated heating capacity between 2 and 8 kW. The Calibra Eco is exceptionally efficient and requires hardly any maintenance. This was a better all-round solution than an air source heat pump, as, with the Calibra Eco, there is no noise, lower electricity consumption and it will last much longer, as the ground source heat collector is practically eternal.

Thermia Mega brings energy-efficient heating and cooling
With a very old energy system using a standard electric boiler, Bø Hotell was consuming about 660.000 kWh/year and, with the ever-increasing electricity prices, the heating costs had got to €170.000 a year. Something had to be done. The hotel has an enormous demand for hot water, particularly in the mornings when the rooms are filled with guests travelling to the Waterpark in Bø Sommarland, often a whole family per room.
In 2022, the Bø Hotell in Norway switched from a 50-year-old energy system to renewable heat pumps from Thermia.
Passive building construction is a building design strategy that uses natural sources of heating, cooling, and ventilation to create comfortable, environmentally friendly, and affordable buildings.
